The
Ards Peninsula drive (A2-A25-3hrs) takes you out of Belfast through Holywood,
past the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum to Bangor. You follow the coast
road which takes you through seaside villages and the fishing village of Portavogie
on to Portaferry which has Exploris, Northern Ireland's only Aquarium specialising
in the marine life of Strangford Lough. From Portaferry you cross by ferry
to Strangford and on to Saul, the landing place of St. Patrick over 1660 years
ago. Downpatrick is your next stop where St. Patrick is reputedly buried beside
the Cathedral. The return trip via Saintfield will be about 45 mins.
